About Us- Master Byron Queen, Mr Bill Packer, Master Tom Connor

Master Byron Queen began training in Kenpo Karate in Oct 1970 at the age of 10 at Traco International in Globe, AZ  under the instruction of Mr Bill Packer. Mr Packer remained Mr Queen’s instructor for 35 years until Mr Packer’s passing in 2005. 

When Mr Packer moved to Albuquerque, N.M., Mr Queen also trained at the Phoenix , AZ schools with Master Tom Connor and Tomas Connor II.

Under Mr Packer’s instruction, Byron Queen competed in sport Karate for numerous years and became seven (7) time Arizona State Champion, three (3)time National Champion, the Wealter Weight North American Champion, and placed second (2nd) at Ed Parker's International Karate Championships in 1999.

During 30 years of competition, Mr Queen was ranked by the following sanctioning bodies:

I.M.A.C. - International Martial Arts Council

N.B.L. - National Black Belt League

U.S.K.A. - United States Karate Association

A.S.K.A. – Arizona State Karate Alliance

Mr Queen was selected to compete on the West Coast Karate Team in 1977. He competed on and led the MET-RX Sport Karate Team from 1999 until 2003 where his students won numerous State and National titles.

Mr Queen opened AKKA Scottsdale in 1999 under Mr Packer’s direction. To this day, this academy teaches the same values of Kenpo that Mr Queen learned from Mr Packer with no alterations. This is not a blended art, we are Kenpo specialists with many years of experience.

Our instructors are Kenpo Black Belts only and supervise their students closely. Present in the Junior classes are three (3) instructors, one for each belt level.
